Insert bearings (SKF Y-bearings) are based on sealed deep groove ball bearing but have a convex outer ring and in most cases an extended inner. A Very cost effective bearing and have many types but are classified by how the bearing are locked on to the shaft.

They are of two types; stainless steel and zinc-coated rings and both of them have similar characteristics and can be used in corrosive environments.

The major difference being the zinc coated made of food-compatible rubber with a stainless steel linger and are filled with a food-grade grease which can be applied through the two holes on either sides of the outer ring.
